I’m thrilled that the good people at The Florida Review named my short story, Crash, the finalist for this year’s Editors’ Award in fiction and published it in the current issue. The three characters in this story are each struggling with a different stage of life: Jerry with widowerhood, Bryan with middle age, and Nikhil with adolescence. Each of them is a bit of a loner and distrustful of the others, which, of course, made me want to throw them together and make them dependent on each other in an isolated environment. Writers do the meanest things to their characters! I hope readers enjoy the fireworks.
